Statement:
The work explores human themes such as emotions,
personalities and relationships through the use of body
language and facial expressions, but also through the use of
different media and techniques e.g. delicate pencil drawings
emphasising vulnerability, sensitivity and shyness; bold
charcoal drawings emphasising inner strength and confidence.
Some of the work concentrates on the differences
between the male and female forms and others on the
relationship or attraction between the two.
My basic interest is in form and texture, and in
exploring different ways of expressing these through
different media and contrasting colours, techniques and
materials. I also have a love of drawing. I enjoy the
intimacy; becoming totally absorbed with the emerging image.
This enables me to connect with my inner creativity and to
develop my ideas further, bringing in other elements like
colour and texture, as well as cropping and abstracting to
focus on different elements, such as the eyes being the
window to the soul. |
